Its a story of bread and butter and of course ice cream. The great families here in Tetlin came together to make our own. First we started with the bread which was made in a bag. Flour, yeast and water were just some of the ingredients. While the bread was rising we moved onto making butter which many did not realize was a lot of work. We made it in mason jars that needed to be shaken for about 25 minutes. Then we went back to the bread added more flour and oil and started needing. Lastly we took cream and milk and vanilla putting it in a zip-lock bag and put that in a bag of ice and salt and shook that for about 15 minutes. We all had a great time with about 20 kids, 16 parents/grandparents, and a couple of teachers. The bread turned out great and some even made it home to bake there. Many families commented that it was nice to get together and just have fun. Let's do it again at the end of the month to start plants for the coming summer.
